Stratovarius speed of light cover
The song is once again all about the hopeful and positive vibe it gives. Almost all of the comments I made about "A Million Light Years Away" can be duplicated for the following track "Freedom." It's another rather cheesy track, but Jens' keyboard work and an outstanding chorus melody from Kotipelto makes it a joy to listen to. It's so filled with hope and emotion and is SUCH a 'sing-able' solo. It's one of my all-time favorite Tolkki solos. Tolkki's solo might be the best part of the whole experience, though.
The chorus is a classic catchy and powerful Strato chorus that will leave you humming well after it ends. The chorus along with Jens' keyboard melody is what makes the track. No one is going crazy on the track, and Tolkki really takes a backseat to let Kotipelto's voice shine. Jens' keyboard work is so incredibly catchy and memorable. "A Million Light Years Away" is absolutely a fairly standard and flowery power metal song, but it also has so much charm to it. Although the album undoubtedly has some more 'flowery' and stereotypical tracks on it, I don't really understand why some would be shocked to find these things on a power metal record. "Infinite" has a lot of variety in its songwriting that I feel the last two really lacked. The album keeps the speed they've made a name for themselves with on the aforementioned albums, but Tolkki provides a lot more memorable riffs and song-writing than them.
#STRATOVARIUS SPEED OF LIGHT COVER PATCH#
Where I feel like "Visions" just had no decent riffs to be found across the whole album and really focused far too much on speed and catchiness alone and "Destiny" was very unfocused song-writing wise, "Infinite" really helps patch all of that up. At the start of the new millennium, Stratovarius released their eighth studio album "Infinite." This album is what I feel "Visions" and "Destiny" should have been like.
